FLAT POLYCARBONATE SHEETS INSTALLATION

Subsurface preparation of flat polycarbonate sheets

Frame dimensions for installing flat polycarbonate sheets depend on the imposed load and sheet thickness. See the polycarbonate sheet load-bearing capacity data table to calculate appropriate frame dimensions. Note that data are reported in kg/m2.

Cutting flat sheets

standard saws suitable for polycarbonate sheets can also be used for cutting thick sheets. Special cutters can be used to cut sheets of less than 2 mm thickness. Cooling is not required when cutting polycarbonate sheets (expect it for thick sheets). In the case of local heating, the sheet can be cooled by compressed air. Note that the cutting location should be tightly fixed to prevent fracture at the edges.
Installation in profile: flat polycarbonate sheets can be connected using standard profiles or placed in standard frames. Note that at least 20 cm of each side should be placed in the frame. Sufficient spacing should be considered during installation for the thermal expansion of sheets.

Drilling flat sheets

سوراخ کاری ورق های تخت

drilling undermines the strength of polycarbonate sheets. Since the thermal expansion of polycarbonate is much larger than that of glass and metals, the hole diameter in polycarbonate sheets must be 3 mm larger than the screw, and the screw should not be tightened firmly to allow expansion and contraction of the sheet. Moreover, the holes must be drilled with a 40 mm clearance from the edges.
Cold bending: Despite the high flexibility of polycarbonate sheets, do not bend them beyond the allowable limit. Thicker sheets can withstand smaller bents.
The minimum radius for bending sheets with thicknesses of less than 6 mm:
Minimum bending radius (mm) = 150 × sheet thickness (mm)
The minimum allowable radius for thicknesses larger than 6 mm is >1500 mm.
Hot bending: to avoid damage to the sheets, consult our technical specialists before hot bending.

Bent warm

Flexible and ductile flat polycarbonate sheets with a thickness of less than 2 mm can be rolled to produce sheets longer than the standard limit. The longer length is useful in applications for rolled flat sheets in industrial greenhouses. Therefore, rolled polycarbonate sheets feature all properties of flat polycarbonate sheets, and the same installation and maintenance tips as flat polycarbonate sheets should be taken into account in this case.
